(1) Prepare your list of names of friends and business associates who you think might care about the fine work being done at Rady Children's Hospital.

(2)  Review the sample letter(s) that you have been provided and then prepare a letter that reflects YOUR personality. Use some of the ideas in the sample letters if you feel comfortable with them.

(3)  Sign every letter and hand write a personal note on each letter if at all possible.

(4)  IMPORTANT! Include a self addressed and possibly stamped envelope in each letter. We want to make it as easy as possible for each person to make a contribution to you. Put another way, we want it to be hard to say NO!

(5)  If someone asks you if they can make a pledge, say YES. Ask them to send a note to this effect in the return envelope. You can collect later.

(6)  If you are asked any questions about Rady Children's Hospital that you cannot answer, call me or better yet, email me and I will get you the answer if I don't know it. (Phone: 858-487-3520 ext. 105, or email: jimandnancy@themcnabbs.com).

(7)  Mail the letters out about May 1^st. We believe that letters requesting funds should be sent out about one month before the event.
